While Scott was defeated by the eventual winner in the first round of the top eight, the list of armies he defeated on the way there is pretty impressive, so it’s definitely worth looking at what makes this list tick. This list caught our eye as we caught up with the results from the SoCal swiss section, as in a top eight dominated by the game’s best factions, Daemons really stand out.

This section highlights two lists from Best of the Rest sections that are particularly unusual or innovative. So massive was the weekend, in fact, that even with the new format shrinking GTs down to just undefeated lists for the full writeups, this column needs to be split in two (especially as I’m still recovering from being head judge at a major all weekend).Īs ever, there’s a list of current list archetypes here, which will be frequently referenced, and players who were undefeated going into the final round of an event (or were otherwise in contention to win the whole thing as the round started) will have a ✪ next to their placing.

Past that, we had an incredible three additional majors across Europe and the US, and a hefty crop of GTs. Another week, another spectacular series of events, including both the second Goonhammer Open (this time a major in the UK) and the SoCal Open supermajor.
